A Talent Contest.

One I happened to take part in a talent contest which was held at our school last year. It was the most exciting experience I`ve ever had. All the contestants had to make up interesting stories on some situation.

I arrived at the place half an hour before the contest and met twenty other contestants. We were rather nervous. Then Tom Smith, the presenter, came in and told us not to worry.

He said everything would be all right. It really was. Most of the contestants succeeded in making up exciting stories. The audience clapped and cheered. I started off hesitatingly but, cheered by the public, went on more confidently.

To my surprise, I was among the winners. In fact, I took the second place.

 I was really happy to get a prize- a book of legends. I had a fantastic time and I`ll never forget the experience.

This love story arose much gossip. Mary and John were engaged a year ago. Just then I moved house and happened to be their neighbour. They seemed to be a lovely pair in front of other people, but I noticed that when they were alone John theater Mary badly. Sometimes he was rude to her. At such moments Mary felt confused and was very upset. However, she tried to excuse his conduct, because she was in love with him. She believed that nothing would destroy their happiness. Soon they got married. John often lied to Mary and put her in a difficult situation. As far as I know, he got involved in criminal activity. Mary saw it as a disaster-she began to argue with her husband. Her relationship with John got worse and worse. His serious problems drove her crazy. Mary understood that their marriage was destined to split up. Her life seemed like a volcano.

  At last she got divorced.

Sports and Games.

Sport plays a great role in my life, I go in for swimming.

In fact, I have practiced swimming for five years.

I am not bad at swimming.

I have taken part in swimming competitions several times.

Once I took the third place.

A lot of people go in for sport because it helps them to keep fit.

As for me, sport helps me to be strong and healthy.

Football and tennis are the most popular sports both in Great Britain and in Russia. Golf and cricket are very popular in Great Britain.

Hockey and skiing are very popular in Russia.

I prefer to play volleyball and basketball because I like team games. I often practice them with my friends, but I don^, t watch them on TV as I am not a basketball or volleyball fan.

I have watched football and hockey competitions at the stadium several times. I was very excited.

There are some international sports competions. The most grandiose ones are the Olympic Games.

There are summer and winter sports. Summer sports include track and field, boating, football, cycling, etc.

Winter sports include hockey, skiing, skating, bobsleighing and others.

I think figure skating is the most beautiful sport. I find car racing the most dangerous. In my opinion, swimming is the most useful sport for health.

I consider football the most interesting game to watch.

To my mind, golf is the least interesting game to watch.

In my view, sports and games are a great invention of the time, which makes our leisure time interesting and exciting.
